I'm going to setup a hang on the back refugium for my 20 gal reef tank what macroalgae is the best for this or has the most success

Most commonly successful is chaeto since it grows well and cannot really become a pest in the display.

Pom Pom gracilaria is also a great option. And less “messy” in my experience. It doesn’t trap detritus nearly as easily as chaeto. It’s not as easy to find if you are trying to avoid ordering from an online vendor, though.

Chaeto is a good option, like Randy said. Very proven over the years.
