Best phosphate remover

I have a BRS media reactor. What is the best phosphate remover to use: BRS GFO, BRS high capacity GFO, PhosBan, RowaPhos, Seachem PhosBan, Seachem Phosguard, something else?

I can’t speak to best as I’m the village idiot when it comes to chemistry, but just the regular BRS GFO gave me good results the few times I’ve used it (I never ran GFO consistently, just to make short-term adjustments while working on the root cause of the issue)

How often do you check your phosphates and what do they normally run without a phosphate remover being used?

How often do you check your phosphates and what do they normally run without a phosphate remover being used?

In a new system, typically twice a week. Once before a water change, once 24hrs after (give or take). Once established once every 2-3 weeks give or take

I don’t chase specific numbers, but I try and stay below .1

If I get above .08 I’ll do a water change and monitor for a week, if it doesn’t drop how I want it then I’ll run the reactor and test every 3-4 days. I’ll also make sure to do a better blow off of the rocks, clean up the sand, be more precise with feeding, etc.
