Added this dude recently. He pounds the sand constantly without spreading it all over tank. Always suprised i dont see more of these guys in reef tanks

The addition of fish to an ecosystem needs to be considered carefully. Adding species that can do a job is extremely important IMO. Looks like you've done that!

What kind of fish is that? I don't know that I've ever seen on of these before but it looks kinda cool.

What is he?
It’s a goat fish. When I had sand I heavily considered them but backed of due to two main factors…and I suspect these two are the reason why you don’t see them more often in tanks: they tend to get big and has the potential to decimate the rest of the cleanup crew and smaller fish.

Would be interesting to get some feedback from a long term keeper as they do indeed do a great job with the sand bed. If you ever see them whilst diving they are constantly working.

Its a bicolor goatfish. Cool with 2 big ole whiskers that just constantly push thru the sand.

Ill will update the thread as he gets older. I dont think these guys will get much bigger than 6 or 7" in captivity. I have all kinds of shrimp crabs and starfish in here so we will see if he messes with them. Hes on like 3" now so cant mess with too much.

Are you viking reefing with the youtube channel? I like your tank and your experimenting with fish. Im kind of more of a fish guy so i like seeing the boundries pushed.

Best of luck. They seem to be awesome fish for sure.
