Best Time for Water Change?

The little creatures are a lot smarter than you might think. When you look at the size of their brains to ours there is no comparison. When you look at the size of their brain relative to their body size and the size of their world, it’s a completely different story. My guys know it’s feeding time when the pumps go off, you can see them start to get excited.

I'm not sure that's an example of them being smart, just being conditoned. Similar to Pavlov's dogs.

Yeah, I know...It’s when you love an animal, you apply human characteristics to it like feelings. At least, that is what I do. I like to think my animals are pretty top notch. Maybe that’s just the way I see the world. I think that all creatures have value in their own right and maybe that is what I was trying to convey.
I have a Gourami that I have had for years and I swear this fish loves me and I don’t care what anyone says. I know that he does.
And, I think he is smart. Heck of a lot smarter than my Clownfish...LOL
Think about what I said about how big their world is and what they have to do in it. They are not that big and neither is their world. It’s all good. It is all part of the reward;-)

I do in the morning. After changing the water, I add bacteria. And turn off the skimmer for 3/4 hours.

sometimes, it’s stressful, but oftentimes it’s very relaxing to hang out with your fishes and animals. I really enjoy it. I especially love feeding time. I have a chair by each one of tanks and I sit and watch them swim around and watch them eat. They like the company.

You can do 20 percent in the AM, or the PM or divide them through the day - or do 1/2 at night or 1/2 in the AM. Just be aware that the 20% water change done at once will be more effective than doing 2 water changes - because if you change 10% in the AM and then 10% in the PM - you will be removing some of the 'new' water in the PM change.
