Best way to catch a Wrasse

Key is with both traps add for a day or two so fish become use to it in the tank. Then try to catch.
I like the idea of the Nyos bubble, seems like it may work pretty well and float faster than a door mechanism. I’ve been reading that the door traps can get caught going down and then the fish escapes. Do you put it towards the top? The 6 line really likes to stay about mid tank height.

I was just reminiscing on ripping every single rock out of my tank back in the day to get my six-line out….

In hindsight; I could have probably just used a cube of frozen food as bait, then sucked him up with a slurp gun while he had his guard down!
I remember the days I’ve had to drain 3/4 water and take 90% LR out to catch some in the past. I don’t envy my self looking back at those experiences. Although there was also a lot of anger associated with that process in the past lol this time I’m looking for a more relaxed approach as it hasn’t angered me yet.

I put it in the middle as that’s where my wrasse swims usually. Though doesn’t matter as once pulled it floats to the top. Im a big fan of the nyos after using it.

Feed fish in a net (mysis cube) alll week then when it’s time it’ll be like robbing a baby trust. I caught tangs , six line , clowns it feels like cheating
since fish have memories, do you think it would scar its mind and associate food with net and not eat after? Just a totally random thought. I have a small green Florida mantis shrimp I gave up catching and trust me, he remembers me lol

A hungry fish will always eat. My Anthias get scared sometimes and miss a meal but next meal they don’t miss!

This seems too easy lol did the mysis not flow through the net? I have a large net and a small on that may trap the mysis better. Not sure if it’ll go in it tho but this seems like an interesting tactic
You don’t have to feed in the net , maybe just have in tank while feeding , I did it then when the day came they didn’t dart from it and I was able to get whatever I needed out

I also saw these on amazon, did it not spook the fish when pulled the magnet? Also how did you keep food in it?
I usually relied on a small mirror placed at the back of the trap. Most fish are curious about their image. Some attack their reflection aggressively. Sometimes I'd place a frozen cube of brine shrimp inside, letting it melt.

The red light has worked really well for me. Works better when the room is dark. Fish can’t see in red light but people can. When red light goes on the fish swim aimlessly as if it’s pitch black in the tank (assuming no outside light from the room comes in)…

For in tank trap i usually feed in the trap but dont drop the door until after a few days so fish get more comfortable with it and put their guard down.

Have you guys seen how we have used the FishScooper as a fish trap? We add food inside of the FishScooper and the fish get used to eating out of it, and with the high transparency of the FishScooper the fish get comfortable eating out of it.

The trick is once the fish get used to eating out of it you can slowly move the FishScooper towards the surface of the water and then after a few times of getting the fish to eat out of the Scooper you can pick up the Scooper right out of the water.

We have a few videos on instagram showing it in action.

Interesting idea, do you have a link you could share?

I have had good luck placing my leds with only the red leds on when trying to catch a fish. I do it when they are swimming or in the open and than i can easily net them out. The only fish that hasnt fallen for that trick is my azure damsel
You are an absolute hero!
Been trying to catch my peacock warasse for weeks!
I shut all curtains etc, flicked to red lights wrasse didn't even move from me, caught within 1 minute...!! Thank you
