Best way to clean proflex filter socks?

Looking to find the best/safest way to clean my aqueon Proflex sump filter socks. I have 2 pairs and maybe looking to get a 3rd.


Last time I soaked in vinegar and washed on hot the air dried.

Also can the proflex socks be removed from the plastic 0 ring to secure them?

I have a pro-flex 4 sump.... changed socks every few day and i i have been fighting nitrate issues forever now.... i removed socks all together and we'll see how it goes
