i basically do the same thing, but i kill the feed pump and leave my internal pump running for a few minutes after while i put in a tiny bit of food. this gets the scent in the water and moves it all around. once the corals sniff the food, i kill the circulation pump and let everything settle for about 5 minutes. everything's nice and polyp'd by that time.
