I was looking at the tank with a flashlight and my BGM's tentacles were out about 4". I stared at them for a bit and they retracted some and then I decided to grab the camera. I wasn't able to capture them out as far as they were when I fist saw them, but you can see them out about 2" in the pics. I'm thinking this guy needs a bit more space then what I'm giving him.

My wife turned the flash down on me so the first pic is a bit dark. :(

Mike, Those are short for BGM tentacles!! I have seen my piece put out tentacles that are close to 2" long!! and I have some echinos that put out even longer sweepers!

I guess I better make sure the chalices are kept together and keep other stuff away from now on. I didn't realize the sweepers could be so long.

If you train them to feed during the day, you will be able to see them with the lights on. some sweepers actually have some pretty sweet colors!

Morgan,
How did you go about training them? I usually put reef chili in there a few times a week when I leave for work. Should I do this with the lights on instead?

bennyz,
That looks like splashes of hot lava coming from the eyes. Really awesome shot!

I did it by turning off all the flow in my frag tank were they are for about a half hour a day, then when I turn on the flow and feed cylops or Rod's food. after a few weeks they learn that flow off= food, and they start tentacling out when the flow goes off.

Awesome! I'm going to start trying this today.

Thanks for all the insight everyone. :)
