+1 Fire worm. You'll probably want to (carefully) pull the rest out, too.
Ohhh really? I was having trouble differentiating the pictures when looking
Can you share what is the thing that makes you be able to tell the difference?

The red flanking the sides and the white bristles are the two dead giveaways.

Well that is concerning. For some reason I thought fire worms ate live things. How was this thing surviving and thriving in the sump

Appreciate the info. I’ll go looking for the smaller ones with a glove on
Use tongs. Their cheatae can pierce nitrile and latex.

They are primarily predators, but are opportunistic feeders and can survive off of pods and algae in your sump.

Kinda hard to miss that beast!
Turns out I should look at the sump more often with a light at night lol. I think it has prob been growing for a year.
I’m just hoping I don’t see any negative impact from losing what was probably a great CUC member

It'll be fine, its a relatively small impact and others will take its place.

Freshwater filter only or is it? Have you ever used an HOB filter on a saltwater tank?
