Big hungry sea star

My sea star has gotten so big! I think I know where my small fish went. I found him lifted off the glass and what I read he’s waiting for a fish to smash down and eat. You think this is true?

My dad had a green brittle star many years ago. Body was quarter sized when he got it. For about 10 years we only saw legs sticking out of the rocks at feeding time. A maroon clown, coral beauty, 2 chromis, 2 damsels, 3 cleaner shrimp and 3 gobies went missing in less than 1 year. Tore the tank down to save the beautiful hippo tang still alive thinking he had some type of disease or contamination. The brittle star body was as big as a baseball, his legs overstretched a dinner plate. Pretty sure he ate most, if not all of those fish. We never found bodies.
