Hey all! I just installed a new Reefer Skimmer 900 on a larg reef tank today and the water level is a bit too high. In the past I've placed skimmers on top of a large bio block to get the height needed for the skimmer to work properly and I love the added benefit of having additional bio media.

The blocks I've used in the past break down and or crack if you breath too hard and just turn the sump into a mess over time. Does anyone know of a good bio block that doesn't break and crumble like most of them seem to do?

Thanks in advance!

I’d pick something beside biomedia since I think they can be a detriment (takes ammonia away from corals and some types are an aluminum risk).

I use a plastic laundry basket cut down to size with a piece of shale rock on top for final height adjustment (since my cutting was not perfect). I needed something like a couple of feet of height, but the idea works with much less.
