Bio media suggestions please

I have the Fluval 407 for my 75 gallon tank. Replacing everything inside due to an ich outbreak and starting from scratch.

Came with two bio foam pads in the big trey, the 4 small canisters had:
-2 canisters had bags of carbon
-1 canister had biomax things
-1 canister had more bio foam and their quick clear pad.

I plan on replacing them all, what else should I put in the canisters? Replace with what was in there? Bioballs instead of their biomax? Keep 2 canisters of carbon? (Bag only fills canister about half way, I can fit more in there not sure if it can work that way) TIA

I have used these in the past for fresh water. There is a reason they use the amount of biomedia that they do. It will eventually get gunked up and reduce flow increasing pressure in the upper canister area. Stick with the amount supplied. They used to sell media replacement kits. Eventually all of your biomedia needs will be handled by the rock in the tank if it isnt already anyway. The canister filter is basically useful for water clarity and little else. Maybe some chemical filtration with carbon, gfo or one of the chemipure products.
