Thank you my friend! Any specific reason to add phytoplankton at night?
It’s evening, still about 4 hours with lights on. I just turn it off, add phyto and don’t turn back on until the morning.

It doesn’t happen very often but this morning I was looking at my tank and all the corals looked their best, color, extension and movement. It is more typical at least one looks unhappy and of course it is all I can focus on and ignore the rest that look great. Just thought I’d share, I know you have all experienced this and I’m not sure when it will happen again.

I just started my BioCube 16 and seeing this thread has me SO excited for when I get to this part of my journey!

Our friend @ESABOE sent me a package that was waiting for me when I got home from work that made my day! Please keep her in your prayers as she is going for surgery on Monday for cancer in her femur. This lady is an inspiration to us all, battling cancer, never complaining and on R2R every day giving advice, encouragement and making us laugh. My problems seem so small.

And anyone who knows our Tailspot Blenny loving, Dad joke machine, inspiration to us all, KevGib realizes the example stops with him.

Now get that note-pad out and start writing some Dad jokes!

Nice tank. How many fish do you have in there?
Thank you, I have 7 fish. After 6 fish I figured I was maxed out and then I came across @Katrina71 , my arm is still sore from her twisting it but after over two years I added a tailspot blenny, glad I did, so much personality!

I have a 28 JBJ and a little afraid to add more fish. I have two clowns and one cleaner shrimp. How’s maintenance with that many fish? Been dying to add more live stock but terrified they might fight. Those are my kids and if one is being bullied by another I am jumping in lol.

I think you would be fine adding 2-3 more peaceful fish. Tailspot is very small and peaceful with minimal bioload. My royal gramma is peaceful and colors really pop. I would suggest a goby as well. Although I would add last, one of the more peaceful damsels like my yellow tail damsel. But remember every fish is an individual so you never know. Good luck and happy reefing.

Sorry I didn’t cover maintenance, 12.5% weekly water change.

Really really need to do some fragging! I keep putting it off, the one thing I hate to do. Anyone interested in some frags let me know. Sorry, pick up only.

Found this hammer face down on my rock. No clue how many days it was like that. Took it out and gave it a Lugol’s dip and put it in the sand. It was looking really rough. Over the night someone nocked over on to my acan ( my conch is cruising around with a smirk on it’s face) only one head survived . I would think a healthy hammer would have won that battle. Let’s see if I can bring it back. It’s In really bad shape, fingers crossed.

Well the only head of my hammer looks like it’s going to make it! It will be quite awhile before it is back to its former glory.

Following along because @WalkerLovesTheOcean mentioned you in my tank thread. I just realized we have fairly similar stock! Your tank looks great, and I definitely share your dilemma with the birdsnest! Following along!

Absolutely gorgeous tank and thank you for the kind words. Ya, my previous 16 years of reefing I didn’t have any sps so I thought this time around I would try the birdsnest and a monti cap. They turned out to be the fastest growing corals in my tank. I have fragged my birdsnest probably a dozen times and the monti about half that.

That's Amazing! How do you frag your birdsnest? Do you take it out of the tank? What do you use to cut it? Do you need to do anything to the main coral after you've cut it? Sorry for all the questions - but I'm definitely going to have to do this soon. Or if you know of a good resource/article, I can also look it up. Thanks very much in advance :)

I use bone cutters in the tank for the birdsnest and I have a dremel with a diamond blade for my torches, hammers and frogspawn. Great fragging videos on YouTube for just about every coral. They aren’t as delicate as you would think. I was cringing watching how they were handled the first couple videos. Any questions anytime.
