I have been researching LED kits for the BioCube 29 for a couple of months now. And although I do like the retro fits such as Steve's LEds and Rapid LEDs have. I am not wanting to spend that kind of money. And really all I need the lights to grow is macro algae and softies for A pony tank. So I have found 2 lighting systems that I like.

Current USA Truelumen. These are my first pic. I like the price. Also like the package deal.

Also Ecoxotic Panorama Pro 16W. These are my second pic. Although these seem to be more powerful than I may need. A little more expensive. Still cheaper than the retrofits though.

Any thoughts?

They both should work for macros or softies.

I've used both the Ecoxotic and Current USA TruLumen in seahorse tanks and have been pleased with both, with the exception that I've had a few bulbs burn out on the Ecoxotic Panorama but never on the TruLumen. However, Ecoxotic is excellent in honoring their one year warranty and sent replacements right away. For seahorses and soft corals/mushrooms, my preference has been the blue/white 50/50 combo for both growth and aesthetics.

I think either way, you will be in good shape.. For macros and stuff like gorgonians, those lights should be sufficient enough to keep everyone happy.
