I picked up a used Biocube that I thought was a 32. I based this on the LED top has "Biocube 32 V3" on the LED wafer board. I need to use it to dose prazi so I decided to measure the water going in. When I topped out at 20 gallons I was perplexed. I started to do some measurements and I don't think it is a 32 but I don't know what it is. It doesn't align to any other Biocube measurements that I can find.

Any ideas?

Size of the stand is 21 1/4" x 21 1/4" and the tank is 20" x 20" across the back and side (this isn't counting the extra width of the slight bow in the front). Where it really throws off from any Biocube measurements that I have seen is the height. It is 16" high.

Any guesses?

I think you have a biocube 29 gallon. My 32 gallon is 19 inches where yours is 16 inches. Same lid for both.

I guess the measurements I was seeing had been the box dimensions maybe. 20 gallons to fill an empty tanks is a far bit away from 29. I suppose it’s a benefit. Less meds to dose.

So did you figure if it's a 29 or not. I am confused about mine as well

I'm curious to see if you figured it out as well!

No, I never bothered to worry about it much. The more I looked at it the more confused I was. As far as I can tell it's a CoralVue bioCube because it has a hinged top and a kraken reef screen top fits perfect. however it appears to be on an Oceanic BioCube stand and the inTank baskets measure out to be Oceanic BioCube. The first overflow in the first chamber was cut down to be at the inTank basket height. I assume that wasn't required by InTank but was done to make the wrong baskets work.

IDK honestly, it's strange.

After some research I believe it's a oceanic 29 gallon. The measurements are almost exactly the same.

The one I have isn't Oceanic. It has hinges on the back and has a hinged top. Everything I have found indicates the Oceanic ones did not have a hinged top.

Strange. About how much water does it hold.
And do you have a pics of tank. What is youe equipment list

By calculation it is a 27.706 (if perfectly straight sides) gallon, not a 16 or 32. I have the same tank that I purchased second hand and was able to fill it (short the filter side) with 23 one gallon water jugs. I suspect I'd get another 1-ish gallon in the filter void if that would fill with water and not over flow. I have no way of knowing what year mine is and have dug around on the web hoping for a more definitive an answer.

JBJ made a 28 gallon tank but it's measurements were 17.5 × 22 × 22 in (44 × 56 × 56 cm). Mine is 20x20x16.
JBJ also made a 24 gallon that measured 18 L x 19.7 H x 19.6 W. If you add that 2" lost to length to height, you're at 18" tall, so it's 1.3" larger in volume.

I've taken my gallon jug method, which sucks, but it's the only way I can guarantee the absolute volume of usable water capacity.

I think I have the same tank, bought it second hand, it’s an oceanic 29. Hope this helps.
