I am going to start using the Ecobak pellets today. They bottle has been staring me in the face from the shelf for 6 months. How much should I start with for about 200 gallons total water volume including the sump? I have read to start with way less than the instructions suggest?

You didn't state how much you have? Soak the pellets in RO/DI water for the next 24 hours while your read the replies. :)

Start with 250 -500 ml. Let those run for a month or two then add 250 ml more. Just go slow. They take a while to colonise, but too much too fast will start bactetia blooms

I'm about a month into my ecobak pellets. If you don't have already, get yourself good nitrate and phosphate test kits.
My nitrate tests 0 on Red Sea low range. Phosphates are at .03

I added some nitrate to tank to continue pulling phosphates.

I'm 4 weeks in now haven't seen any drop In nitrates yet but all algea is gone like I stated at the 2 week mark. From what people say the pellets kick in around the 4-6 week mark and start working on nitrates so hopefully I'll see the nitrates dropping soon!

Imo it all depends on what else your running with the biopellets. I know plenty of people that run them and have had great succes, me being one of them. I run gfo, biopellets, and water changes once every 2 weeks. no dosing. Nitrates and phosphates never above zero, havnt seen algae on glass since i started the tank..dont even.usr the.magnet i.bought. As for differencr in coral health. I saw a total 180 with my sps and lps. I love my biopellets. I reccomend starring.with half the reccomended amount so there is no bacterial bloom, and also so you dont strip the tank.of.nutreints. Only thing i dose is amino acids and trace elements for.what the biopellets take out. I also.tumble.my biopellets like.crazy in phosban 150
