Biota Captive Raised Fish

I have been in this hobby for about a year now.Got a great deal on a tank, everything was going well until I got a fish at a "big box" fish store, name not to be mentioned.Long story short it had something and took out my whole tank in less than a week.
4 months later I got a new custom made 100gallon 6' long tank and have only stocked it with Biota fish.
black storm clown pair was the first, royal gramma,2 court jester gobi, yellow tang, hippo tang, purple tang, yellow watchman gobi and two cardinals.
Everything has been fantastic for months, fish started small but I don't mind as I enjoy watching them grow.
captive raised is all I will ever purchase from now on.

Hopefully they will continue to expand their availability of fish and people will pay the extra for not pulling a fish out of the sea.

Yep. Year and a half year ago I put a Biota baby yellow tang, potter's angel, and two marine bettas as well as a tiny Swissguard basslet into a 55 gallon to let them grow up before adding them to my 180g display. Today they are all healthy beautiful fish in my display. Love Biota captive bred fish. You just have to understand they are very small fish when you get them. You have to take that into consideration before adding to a display, especially with larger established fish.

I once bought a Purple Tang from them. It was so small (barely silver dollar size), that I was able to use the tank transfer method (TTM) using small glass goldfish bowls. He grew to live a long life in my display tank.

This sounds like past tense. How long did it live? Apologies if I misunderstood.

My friend a got into the hobby so I told him to buy all captive fish directly from Ora or Biota and I sent him to cultivated reef for his corals.

No disease problems doing it this way. Easy.

He lived about 5 years; did eventually develop some lateral line problems, however. He came with this weird 'defect'-- which I don't think shortened his life in any way.

Hobby fishing is a minute percentage of fish taken, if they survive the trip chances are good they live a lot longer than wild fish. I do like the disease free part, but the cost is pretty prohibitive. Eventually it will come down once more people decide to raise them.

167 gallon display tank, 6ft long.

I got a Biota Mandarin in October. He’s probably tripled in size since. First couple of months, he’d only come out after lights out. Now I see him during the day. Cool fish, can’t wait to see him more as he continues to grow.
