I’ve had mine for 5 months. He’s doing fantastic! He was super pale when I got him (my LFS has them routinely and they’re ALWAYS super pale to start out). As you can see he’s colored up BEAUTIFULLY.

Wow looks great! Yellow tangs have always been a favorite of mine. If they were not $200 I would have gotten 1-2 more for a little school!

Here’s mine - had him for 1.5 months.

I still can’t tell if he has HLLE or if this is just his markings on his face. My LFS said that all of them have that when they are juvenile. Eats like a pig and has nori all day long. Also soak in vitamins and selcon everyday.

We will see though!

Did yours have that when you bought it or did it develope after?
That looks like bad hlle. I have 3 I bought from biota last March and only one developed hlle but not nearly as bad as that one and mine is receding.

EDIT: This is mine at it's worst. None of my three had it when I first got them.

He was so white when I first got him that I have no clue if he did or not.

But I was running Red Sea carbon for a bit - but stopped a few weeks ago. Not sure how long it’ll take for it to get out of the system if there was any dust. But from what I read Red Sea is pretty darn good.

When the reefs are all dead and our only options to obtain saltwater fish is Biota and similar maybe they will be appreciated. I know I’m being a pessimist but just going on facts:(. They have done such groundbreaking work I applaud them for sure
Just got mine today.
He’s in QT now.

$300 Canadian.
Different “batches” some are whiter than others, but thus changes within a few weeks.

Just wanted to share my Biota tang. Got him a few months ago and he’s been doing really good. I have heard that they aren’t as yellow but I feel mine has great color.
Also my hippo tang I got from petco about 10 years ago he was the size of a yellow tail damsel. He’s survived my tank crash and overall is very robust.
Any other Biota tangs out there please share!

My wild yellow tang came with HLLE, it’s been years now but the scars remain though they do look better.

I don’t think the supply chain always treats the wild ones kindly… I assume copper and poor diet through the chain caused it.

Nice very yellow looking! Wow Canada is so much more than American I’m seeing.
