I was gone for 2 days with my ATO and heat Fine. I came home birdsnest was almost dead and my favia is turning brown from the outside in. Could this be because they're new additions and I run my alk at 11?

9 months with corallineHow old is your tank, and what are other water params?
So could of the alk shock killed it? I mean I got it for free but still sucks to lose a birdsnest and almost lose a splatter FaviaAlk at 8 to 9 maybe more common. Red Sea pro is higher alk.
mind if I ask for pics? I just want to rule out potential Brown Jelly Disease.my favia is turning brown from the outside in.
White. What should I do for the splatter favia? Its brown around the rim. Will it be fine if I just dip it and call it a day?If you still see polyps in the birdsnest, put it in low light for a few weeks.
Can't but ive had brown jelly and this is not brown jelly. Its white skeleton with brown algae around itmind if I ask for pics? I just want to rule out potential Brown Jelly Disease.
Why dip, do you suspect a pest? Put it in low light and let it adjust. Corals are resilient, given a chance to recover.White. What should I do for the splatter favia? Its brown around the rim. Will it be fine if I just dip it and call it a day?
My friendling there were No polyps, it was white, and it was thrown and picked up by my urchin i thinkIts bleaching but not necessarily dead. Something spiked or changed in salinity, ph, alk, CA or phosphates- TEST3offer heavy blue lighting and moderate water flow and it M A Y bounce back
These guys can recover well. I know of many including myself who have had bleached birdsnest and stylo in which now fully recovered. My friendling there were No polyps, it was white, and it was thrown and picked up by my urchin i think
This is helpful! What should i do with it though? These guys can recover well. I know of many including myself who have had bleached birdsnest and stylo in which now fully recovered.
Often when water becomes too warm, that alone will cause bleaching. Bleaching is the release or loss of zooxanthellae from coral tissue. Zooxanthellae is acquired by corals via light and water flow. When nutrients are delivered and zooxanhellae is restored, so is the coral.
could i just put it in the corner of the tank with blue light from my kessiLYou can place them in styrofoam box or cardboard w box in the path of blue light at room temperature until you’re ready to acclimate
Float bag in display to first adjust temperature
