Any corals in your tank that could have stung the clown? Bristleworms in the sandbed? Other fish or crabs that it may have been fighting with and was injured?

I have a hollywood stunner chalice, a hammer although its not doing too well these days, a few ricordea, a green birdsnest, a purple stylo, and a unknown acro. There is one other clown but hes the submissive one. The clown pictured is the dominant one and i believe is becoming a female. The clowns have been together for about 5 months and the little one dances for this one all the time...

I have not seen that yet. The big one mostly charges at the little guy and he instantly starts shaking. "She" backs off when he does that but "she" checks him frequently, especially when im around because that could mean food is coming... maybe its just the skin turning black? When i bought these guys they were basically orange. I didnt even know i was getting black clowns haha!

It's probably a coral sting, but mouth locking in combat is another possibility.
