I went to check on him this morning and he was laying out in the open on the sand bed which is unusual because I just got him 4 days ago and he’s always been in his little cave. He has been very active during feeding time when I got him but always went back in to his hole when powerheads came back on. I looked at him closer and on one of his fins he has a big black spot and it’s all closed up making it hard for him to swim
Params - Temp - 76.5-77.5, salinity - 1.0267, ph - 8.1, phosphates 0.02, nitrate - 0-5, alkalinity 7.4, ammonia 0, nitrite 0, magnesium - 1760, calcium - 515
The only new thing that has happened is last night I added 2.2 grams of baking soda to raise the alkalinity by .5
The urchin got his spines caught in the power head but I don’t know if that has any correlation. The firefish is also breathing a little harder then normal. There are no other fish and 5 astrea snails and a short spine urchin along with some corals.

Well I pulled him up and it was a dang parasite on him. It looked like a little rolly polly. Anyone know what it was. It got back into the tank though I don’t know what to treat for since I can’t I’d it

Welp... it’s an isopod and of course with my luck when I took it off it got out of the net back into the tank. I have my fire fish in a drilled Tupperware in the tank and he’s not going too good. I don’t know what to do with treatment for him or removing that one isopod and the chance of more

Leave the dead fish in the tank in that Tupperware. Maybe go in to pull the whole thing in the middle of the night and see if there are more attached, they will like the fresh meat.

Thank you for the info, here's an update... He ended up dying and I caught two isopods using traps and didn't catch anymore the next few nights. Added a six-line to eat anymore if there were. Week after that I added a pair of clowns and removed the six-line due to aggression. Haven't seen any more of the isopods.
