Hi guys,

I got a leather coral with some black spots. Does anyone know what it is? Necrosis?

Im setting up a reefer 250 at the moment. Used some rocks from my nano so its not a showtank at the moment, sorry;

Looks like dead tissue to me. Anything close enough to sting it? Or asterinas?

I have moved it a few times in a short time so hard to tell. But i thinki noticed the blackspots before moving it the first time and at that time near a big ricordea mushroom.

My leathers do this as well, they appear and within 2-3 days come off and they look good as new!

Old reply but glad im not alone. This happened overnight for me and was wondering what happened. i have 3 other leather corals nearby approx 6 inches from one, 4 inches from the next and a foot away from the other. I thought perhaps one of the corals had released chemicals but they had been fine in that same spot for about 1 month. I have had this leather in particular approx 2-3 months. I hope it bounces back based on other replies if not I'll have to move it until it recovers.
