I’ve had this leather coral for 2 weeks, it was doing great I inserted 2 pics below one when open and one closed. The last few days it has shrunk a lot and won’t open fully, it also looks a lot darker but the polyps are trying to come out. I was dosing Ruby pro for 4 days since my clown had brooklynella, it started shrinking on the third day of dosing. After dosing I added the carbon and did a large water change but it still looks terrible. Not sure what to do, all my other corals look fine, my GSP was closed after dosing the ruby pro but it came back out right after I added the carbon. I also noticed on the base of the coral there is some black/brown areas, not sure if this is algae but I can’t get a photo or see it since it has shrunk down so much. I also recently turned my whites down to 0 (they were only at 5) should I turn this back up or should I be scrubbing the brown pieces off right now? I don’t want to make too many changes and stress them out so someone please let me know.

IME toadstool loves good amount of flow, it also like good lighting although it can tolerate almost any lighting, but it needs good flow. How is the flow on it? In the picture it sort of looks like its in the shade. Do you have other corals? How are they doing?

I think that’s just the blue lighting the coral is in the light but it’s at the lower middle section of the tank. Flow is also on the lower end right now, I do have space and could move it near the GSP where there’s high flow, but the flow there is really high since it’s right where my filter is and it’s also on the higher section of the tank. Yes i have a few other corals the GSP is doing great, I also have 2 hairy mushroom corals and a Kenya tree which are also doing well.

Toadstool likes more flow (and light) than mushroom and kenya, I would try to move into a flowy spot.

You can also use a turkey baster to gently blow on it and blow off any detritus on it.

Okay I will move it to a spot with higher flow. Thanks!

My toadstool was closed for year and a half after moving to new house. I thought it was dead and was thinking about throwing it away, but it was otherwise ok. Than one day it just opened, don’t know why. They also close before shedding skin when adapting to some change in water parameters.
