Black worms source?

I just got almost more worms than I can store so my fish are having a feast. But I am in New York and there are blackworms all over the place.

My last order was for frozen. Wife's not crazy about live worms in the refrigerator. I believe they did have a shortage about a year or so ago, but are now able to supply live worms.

If you wish, you can set up your own breeding tank....just google and I'm sure you'll find the info.....and seed it with California worms.

Yup I buy from them regularly. Great customer service. Keep refrigerated. Buy only as many as you can feed in 1-2 weeks. After one week you need to rinse in very cold water daily to keep them from all dying. I buy 1/2lb for all of my fish

An easy way to keep them, un refrigerated, is this... I keep mine in a large flat (Bought at home depot for mixing cement) with the water about 4 -5 inches deep it holds about 4 gallons maybe a little more. I put a cheap bulkhead on it so it overflows from the top of that water, and goes into a 5g bucket with bioballs. One small pump to keep the water pumping back up to the flat. Keeps enough o2 in the water for the worms, keeps it cycled and the worms stay fat and happy. I throw a little mesh material in there for the worms, and feed now and then, very liberally. Keep in mind it has to cycle before throwing a ton of worms in there or they will all die. But it makes it very easy to maintain them, alive for my fish everyday. And no bothering the wife with live worms in my fridge. I go to my LFS that sells them every 3 or 4 weeks to replenish but only need to buy 6 portions ($8) each time which would equate to a 1/2 of the smallest portion you can buy from CA blackworms.

If you don't have a local carrier, I think it would still work with ordering from CA but you need to pay closer attention to your cycling of the system.

@Cleo642 I agree with everything humble fish has to say about aquatic specialty and coral connection. Between the two aquatic definitely has a cleaner looking setup but as he said are a bit pricey. I haven't had the opportunity to experience many other stores. I have only been to the two mentioned bc they are closer to me and I have been to adventure pets in mandeville. I am hoping to attend the larc meeting in October though and get to meet some locals involved in the club. I have met a few buying a few frags or equipment and thoroughly enjoy the website as much as I do here.
