My blasto does not seem to be growing... I've moved him to every level of my tank but he keeps staying the same size. He would shrink when the lights are off and come back when they're on... here's a pic of it. How can I grow this sucker? I want him to cover the entire Little Rock he's on.. I'm feeding phyto to the water column (not target feeding) -

Anyone have experience in growing these things?

Recordias are awesome looking corals,,, all different colors ,,, most Reefers will dedicate a rock in their tank and place lots on Recordias on that rock,,, as they settle into your tank they will get big, grow into each other and make a awesome looking display in your tank. jmo,,, they don't reproduce well,,, so you pretty much have to buy corals to fill in the rock you place them on,, when you have a bunch of muture recordias on that rock,, it will look awesome :) Not high $$$ corals either,, you can find them in the $15 to $25 range :) Just be mindful and not place them to close to each other,,, as they get older they will get bigger,,, you need to mount them so that they have some elbow room as they get older,,

Thanks for clearing it up for me! It does look more like recordia than blasto! Anyone have care advice for them? Are they slow growers?

Definitely a ricordea. Definitely has 2 mouths from the pic. Usually will split. You can direct feed it and it will grow quick. If you're broadcast feeding it's probably not getting much. But being it has 2 mouths from pic, i'd suspect its happy for now. Here's a blasto pic and a ricordea pic very similar to yours.

Here's a better pic for reference. Notice the single yellow/green mouth. When mine split it looked like 2 mouths next to each other and it eventually separated from each other.

Looks just like mine - I'll start target feeding and see how fast it will grow. How long did yours take to double in size?

I had it for a year and never fed it, moved it from my Dt and into the frag tank. I was starving all my soft corals, i figured out. As soon as I started feeding it, about 2 months later, maybe earlier, it split. Same with other ones I used to have. I squirt mysis or fish egg on them.
