One of my acros bleached do you think it will come back? Also its smooth on one side is that because of my leds shading and did the leds cause it to bleach?

Did you change your LEDS intensity recently? When it bleached, did it occur quickly or slowly? Any other SPS affected? I'm assuming it's not a recent addition?

Bleached means polyps have lost their zooanthelle but are physically still there .... fix the problem that caused the bleaching and they can recover. In this case, polyps and coral tissues are completely gone, thus dead. No recovery I’m afraid.

Ok was just trying to bring some humor in these times but you guys missed it completely, thanks for the truth though. That's been outta the water for 30+ years, bought it at the swap meet 30 years ago, it's arms are a foot long and probably 4 inches around. Just saw it in my backyard and the thought came to me. Although obviously the smooth side must have been facing down, just like in our tanks the shaded side on some acros is smooth with no polyps. That must have been one giant acropora colony it came off of. Any ideas what type?;)

I figured there was no way you’d be able to grow an acro that big and never experience rtn. I wasn’t buying it, lol. On the plus side, you probably have a lot of people thinking whether or not that whole thing would fit in their calcium reactor, especially with the Reborn shortage.

Ya I shoulda kept it going till someone questioned it. I’ve got a lot more different kinds, used to get em at the swap meet 30+ years ago for 5$ a piece. Although a lot are in my tank hidden by all the live rock. Crazy what dead coral goes for now, probably have close to a grand in all those.

Taking it out of the water sure didn’t help. There’s always a chance of recovery but this one seems far gone.
Is salinity high or alk jump?

It was a joke. It’s been dead for over 30 years

That's what you get for using LED's. Convert to T5's and the coral will grown back.

Also, what are your params?
