Hey guys. I purchased this anemone a few days ago. Since then it has moved around a fair bit and looked alright in my opinion. Little did I know, there is no such thing as a white bubble tip. After doing some reading I found out that bleaching was a problem. I have tried to feed him little music shrimp but it doesn’t want to eat. My clown loves him so I really would love to nurse it back. Does anyone have any tips? This is a very well established tank (5 years) so there haven’t been any changes in water and parameters are good. Also my aquascape looks kinda funky because I still have another piece of dry rock to add later!

If it is staying inflated and keeping it’s mouth closed and your water parameters are in range + stable I would give it time and it should regain its photosynthetic algae / color.

DIY lights? Something you got from Ebay/Amazon?

I’ll go on a limb and say you don’t have enough PAR to make it happy

That’s a possibility. They are the lights that came with the cube brand new. From the people who have the same tank on here it seems like they are totally fine with lps and anemones. I’ll post a picture of the specifications in a minute.

The stock lighting on cube tanks are always weak and are only good enough to keep soft corals and barely enough power to keep lps.
I would look into upgrading your lighting in order to keep a anemone

Alright. I have looked into the upgraded hood by JBJ. It’s $200 for 40 watts. Does that seem like a good route?

For $200 I would just buy a separate light and take off the hood

I have been considering an AI Prime, but I am worried about jumpers. Should I not worry about my clam. Thanks for all the help everybody.

So many nems are coming in bleached these days.
Do nothing.
He needs to see if he can restart his photosynthetic process.
That might take a month or two.
If he’s stuck, he’s alive.
If he falls off or starts to come apart, discard.

It seems to be a pretty common issue. He has already tried to commit suicide once by squeezing into my back compartment. It seems like he might have settled in to a spot now. I am hopeful and excited that he will color up eventually.

if hes stil moving around you should get a better light.

the upgraded hood will not be enough either.

My suggestion would be to get ride of the hood and buy this below.
