Hello Guys
I am a manager at a petco and we just got a condy in completely bleached out. The lighting here is crap (actinic and a coral light t8 bulbs) I know they are not a strong light anemone. I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions on how to start getting its colors back. I stray away from anemones because most of my customers here are beginners. I was sent one even though I did not order it. Typically I can put some clowns with a nem (even though they don't naturally bond with condys I usually has luck) but right now all I have is tomatos who are bonding with a long tentacle. Please help, any suggestions are much appreciated.
Calcium 380
Phosphates 1.5
Nitrites 0
Nitrates 5
ph 8.1
Salinity 1.024
Levels posted are the only ones I am given tests for here.
I'm not trying to let this die and typically I'd take it home and put it in my tank k but I don't really want a condy and I'm currently nursing a sebae.

Look, I personally know that there's not a lot of people happy at all with petco for the crappy care of marine fish and coral. Not saying your store is that way, idk if it is or not. But we as reefers know the importance of our animals and take the most pride and care for ours. Which is why when we see companys selling absolutely gut wrenching sick fish, we really get upset. We as reefers who are the customers expect high quality service and fish and expect the company knows how to take care of their animals. If petco wants to get answers from the experienced then it would only be fair to offer deals and take what we say into affect. No harshness to you at all, this is a great place to find answers but don't expect a lot done petco is not on our good sides. So to speak lol

I know petco isn't very good with aquatic life. Hence why I am mad that I even have an anemone let alone a bleached anemone. I wouldn't shop at a petco if I didn't work there... I wasn't expecting open arms telling you I worked at petco but I did expect some help. I did not order this and don't unless a customer specifically asked for one but I have it in the store and don't want it to die. There's just 2 t8s in the tank one is a zoomed actinic and one is a zoomed reef light.

I am well aware of petcos reputation and have personally worked hard to banish that from my store. I walked into other stores and have been sick with the condition of their fish. I'm not saying to shop at petco or anything like that I am just looking for help because my hands are tied and I'm doing everything I can do. I'm looking for advice so I can help being this nem back to health. Maybe I'm missing something. I have fluval reef LEDs on a tank but they are shallow tanks and I'm nervous it'll be too much light for it.

Please understand, I didn't mean that in a harsh way. And I'll try to help you out as much as I can. Looking just at the site it says that it is 25 watts with 312 leds. That's not a lot of power for leds, you will hear a lot of people say 3 watts are recommended. As far as bleaching, turn the lights down, I would lower the amount of time the lights are on and when they are on, I would go just blue

It needs little to low light to acclimate better. The leds you guys have I don't think are capable. I may be wrong, maybe someone else can chime in

Calcium is not something I'm supposed to dose at work (even though they send me things that need calcium to thrive) I do bring in my own supplies but I'll be even more broke if I dose as often as I dose at home. I move the nem to a tank with only blues and good water flow (I put powerheads in the tanks I use for coral for obvious reasons) I know the phosphates are high I do not know what else to do about it, I do frequent water changes and have talked to executives about setting up a refugium but was told no even though the store sells everything for it. I will try to talk to the more advanced customers who come in and discount it. Thank you for all the input so far, I really do appriciate it.

My personal experience ive kept a condi for over a year under normal flourecent. I fed him every other day a silverside. You dont want him near clowns. Most arent dumb enougg to try to move in but condis are hunters and could possibly eat the clown

Oh duhhhh why didn't I think feeding a silverside; I will be doing that tomorrow. I have access to Kent phosphate sponge but the no3po4x I'd have to wait for. Should I use the Kent or wait till I get the red Sea chemicals?

Around here (Metro NY area) ANY Condy you see in a chain pet store is bleached out... I think they do it on purpose because when they're bleached out they look more attractive to people who don't know better - which, don't take this the wrong way, is the target customer for a chain store...
