Bleached gigantea thread

Hopefully this one makes it for me, he will go into a tank with some colorados and no other anemones. I sold the haddonis to lfs so he will be the only carpet
Best of luck man! If I can secure another gig, that's what I'll do -- add it to my nem/mushroom tank and not put into the frag/main tank. My nem/mushroom tank is super stable, no crazy chemical warfare (that I know of).

Gigs needs to be fully stable before they can be introduced to one another. I learned the hard way, too, many years ago. There is also something that causes them to be incompatible with one another. I don't know if it's related to the sex of the gig or allelopathy, but it sounds like it's common to have a dominant gig and the others are smaller in size. Of course, it's best to keep one per tank or system.

Mine was stable for 4+ months so not sure how to gauge “fully stable” and didn’t touch each other. ;) I even ran carbon but that didn’t seem to matter.

Completely agree - I will never do this again. Just one gig per tank going forward.

So now… I’m ready to try again but can’t source one, yet.

Green gig is looking really healthy! Good score on that one!

I’m not sure on the gigs not being able to live in the same tanks. Ali at amazing aquariums in Orange CA has had two for years without issue in the same tank. I’ve had two for quite some time without issue as well and I know John (Gig’em?) has multiple I believe in the same tank.

Would be interesting to know if that does cause issues though.

I have definitely seen the same thing... recently re arranged a few tanks and mixed up some of the population ...it has helped .
