Bleaching doughnut. Or acan something. Need advice...

This guy is brand new from lfs as of saturday. And today hes mot looking so good. He had a few spots of bleaching at the lfs but today it's definelty noticable. Wondering if I should move to the shady mushroom garden in the tang's cave. However, he'll be hard to reach and observe there. But yeah take a look... pic one is day one. Pic 2 is now...

a doughnut is a scoly, which likes low light and low flow, it looks more like a scoly to me than an acan. i agree with you to move it to a more shady spot, maybe try feeding it see if it perks up some more. Good luck.

Also I thought this was supposed to be a meaty coral. I've seen more meat on an anorexic girl than this thing. Even when I got it. Also how do I feed the thing:in the center, the outside, has no mouth that I can see unless its gaping that wide.

Looks like a Lobophyllia .. very bad shape. All kinds of skeleton showing through.

Salinity 1.023 is low. Should be up between 1.025-26 sg

0 nitrate is not good either but probably not causing the issue you have since it's a new coral.
Alk at 6.7 is very low and Ca at 400 is a little low but probably not the issue. These last two will increase with an increase in salinity but the Alk will still be 7 or below probably, which is below NSW. I shoot for 8.5-9dkh on my tanks.

I find lobophyllia need pretty low flow and low light or they get all stressed and scrunched up...
For feeding they will put out feeder tentacles at night but they have pretty small mouths and like chopped up foods or small pellets.

Oh.. PO4 at .25ppm is kinda high but I have had mine at .3 in the past and the LPS don't seem to mind so much.
