So I have a lawnmower blenny that was one of my first fish, we've had him awhile. We just got a starry blenny and theyre not really aggressive to each other more so just like to chase each other in almost a hide and seek game lol. i noticed the starry blenny perches on top of the rocks and is always out lately and the lawnmower hasnt been coming out much. Today I saw the lawnmower and she/he was HUGE. straight up looks 9 months pregnant! Anyways, is it possible for starry&lawnmower to mate?? I've included a picture of the lawnmower.

They're both Salarias, so there's not too much of a genetic difference I think...

Check out the starry blenny thread in this subforum. Can you show us close up pictures of the cirri on both the lawnmower and starry's head? And also pictures of the anal fins of both? I'm looking for physical signs of sex for confirmation that you have a male/female.

You're going to have to provide better pictures...See the starry blenny thread for what I'm looking for (high quality, close-up pictures of the fish):

Well, I cannot detect any signs of the starry blenny being a male (doesn't look like it has super elongated anal fin rays), or what the sex of the lawnmower is either....
So you need a better shot or its just too hard to tell?

The latter. I ran the video at .25x speed, and paid particular attention to the eyebrow cirri, as well as the anal fins, and couldn't detect any sexually dimorphic traits of either.
Well thank you for trying!
