as much as i know they are deep water fish and come up to spawn or lay eggs? not sure. How do you know they are a pair? Can you tell the difference between a male and a female?

I bought a pair from DD. One only made it a few months but ive had the other for a couple years. I dont know how DD gets them as pairs but mine did not do well together. The one that is still living was the aggressor.
