Anyone else pick one of these up from PEA?

As far as I'm concerned, a large blue squamosa is about the pinnacle as far as Tridacna go, I had one years ago that grew to about 9" before I lost it in a tank crash. I've been wanting another for some time but after hearing the survival rates on the last few batches were abysmal, I didn't want to risk it. But after eyeing these ones on PEA's site for a few months, I figured I'd give one a shot

Just got mine in a few hours ago, about 2.5" and healthy! A terrible pic of the little guy as the lights were ramping down. I'll definitely get some better pics haha

The coloration on these is certainly different than the normal blue squammies, so I'm very curious to see how they look when they start getting some size.

If anyone else grabbed one, feel free to share some pics, it would be cool to compare as they grow out!

I've been looking at them but haven't talk myself into one yet. So far I have a derasa and a maxima that are doing very well.
Yeah, I was in the same boat. Price and survival record were both deterrents, but the 40% off sale got the better of me haha

A slightly better picture from this morning, seems like it's setting in nicely!

Am I really the only one on r2r to grab one of these?!
Got mine from them also…he looked pretty iffy and still not sure he’s gonna make it. The shipping water was super cold. Pacific east is awesome though and promptly sent me a gift certificate for the amount I spent, which I’ll use if he dies.

Looking at the picture in your thread, it certainly looks like it has a fighting chance! I'll have my fingers crossed for you. I had issues with the other clam that arrived in the same order with my blue squamosa, it's looking way better now but I seriously thought it was a goner. PEA is definitely a stand-up business, that's awesome they sent you a gift certificate just in case!

And an update on my little guy, seems to be fully settled in and happy. Always love the difference in color depending on viewing angle! (ignore the dinos, they seem to be enjoying the new lights too haha)

PEA posts notices on here, and I think you can sign up for emails from them about stock and sales, etc.

Just a heads up for those looking for a blue squamosa, it appears another batch may have landed in the states. Snagged this one from Corals Anonymous for less than $200, which I couldn't pass up, especially since it's a true, ultra blue.

Grabbed a top down while doing a water change, good comparison of the color difference! The blue-green has been with me for 3 weeks, and is just starting to show new shell growth. The ultra blue is one week in and seems to be settling in well. Please ignore the algae, at least the dinos are gone hahaha

Picked up mine today.

Left side from Biota
right side from Coral Anonymous

the biota clam looks healthier. Clean. But not as blue. The CA one looks deep blue but the clam has no growth mark and got algae growing on shell

Unfortunately, I lost basically all of my clams, including my blue squamosas, over the past week to an extremely fast acting disease. They went from healthy, actively growing specimens to dead within 4 days of the onset of symptoms. FW dips were had no effect whatsoever, I strongly suspect this was something bacterial due to how quickly it spread and killed the clams. I've never experienced anything like this in my 15 years in the hobby.

Sorry for your losses. Do you think it was something that came in on one of your new clams?

I suspect that's the case but obviously, I don't have anyway to definitively say so. The last clam added to the tank was the CA blue squamosa but it could have come on something else and just taken a few weeks to present itself
