Let's hope he is able to extend more today! How many inches is he now and was he under the strip lights? Are you running those 100% and for how long?

Hopefully he will look like post 13 again, that was perfect and I will admit very squammy like.

Any chance a fish is picking on him?

No chance a fish was picking at him because my tank was fallow up until 2 days ago. When I got him in the tank, tank was fallow. When he started going downhill was when I found a nassirius snail on him. Haven't seen a snail of anything on him since.

He's about 3" long

I have these Fluval Marine 2.0 LED strips, I'll post a pic I had of my tank a few months ago where I showed how the par dropped according to Fluval's paperwork. I've since added a second LED strip side by side, so I know that wont "double" the number, but certain helps. I was running both at a max of 80% (blues and whites). Ramp up at 8:30 to 10:30, ramp down from 6:30 PM to 8 PM

I think that was the problem. That sand bed is way too low light. Even if another strip almost doubles it, I have had the best luck with around 200 PAR and not less than 100 PAR for squammy. From that pic looks like was in the zone under 30 Par?

Yeah I would say under 30, depending how accurate the Fluval depth chart I used to make that chart is. So, I'll give him some time up there and if he starts doing better and I can visualize him growing up there, I'll make a more permanent base for him.

The clam has t been getting better or worse up top, however i did see a hermit and snail on it this morning. I have these baby “black” Nassirus looking snails in my tank lately. I guess Nassirus. Are these bad and should be removed? I don’t know where they came from because they don’t look like the Nassirus of my CUC

Definitely a whelk and disaster for that clam. IMO that squamosa would be better off on the sand bed if you can provide more light. Hopefully there's not to much damage done at this point but the clam looks to be in very rough shape. The hermit is there mostly likely for dying tissue.

You think it will survive on the sand with under 30 PAR? 30 is the zone above it, even with a 2nd light the sand bed is probably well under 30. I can't imagine a clam surviving in 10 or 20 par.

I said IF HE CAN PROVIDE more light. No clam will survive at that par. So no, I do not think the clam would survive at that current PAR. Personally I don't think that light is capable to sustain a clam long term either way.

Unfortunately he didn’t make it, moving up for more light, and even try fresh water bath, he kept going downhill
