I am considering getting a Blue Spot Puffer and trying to gauge its compatibility with my tank. I've always wanted a puffer, but have avoided them because they aren't exactly reef safe. One of my tanks is getting over run with tiny snails that keep getting stuck under my cleaning magnet. It's only a matter of time before I scratch my glass. I figure a small puffer could help me out with that.
I'm looking for input from people that have actual first hand experience with these fish. These are the current inhabitants that I am concerned about.
Tiny snails all over the tank: Hopefully a tidy snack for Mr Puffer.
Maxima Clam: Can be moved to my big SPS tank if needed.
Cleaner Shrimp: Would a medium sized cleaner shrimp get eaten by a Blue Spot Puffer?
Sexy Shrimp: I have a couple of these. I'm guessing they would be a delightful snack.
Garden Eels: I wouldn't think there would be an issue, but what do I know? I've never had a puffer.
Medusa Worm: I have a fairly large Medusa Worm. I've read that Blue Spots can nip at slow swimming fish. What about sea cucumbers like medusa worms?
Porcelain Anemone Crab: This guy was one of the first creatures in this tank. I'd be really sad if he got devoured.
Tuxedo Urchin: It wouldn't attack an urchin would it?
BTAs: Started with one tiny Nexus Joker Bubble Tip Anemone. Now I have four large ones.
