Hi,
I have a blue tang, and I know they are supposed to eat a mix of greens and flake food. My blue tang eats the flake food without a problem, but he wont touch the green marine algae I bought for him. Is it bad if he doesn't eat any greens? Or is there something else I should try?
Thanks

How long have you had it? Mine took about 2 weeks before it touched the nori seaweed. Now it eats it agressively!!! Blue tangs are easy feeders.... some just take a little longer than others. Just keep offering...

My blue tang is doing the same thing, totally avoids the nori I put in for him. He does pick at the rocks and eat frozen mysis so I'm not too worried.

I initially had my nori attached to a rock with a rubber band. I switched to a clip hanging on the glass and my tangs were terrified for nearly a week! Sometimes some things aren't natural and take a while. Now they neary rip it off the glass!

Beautiful fish :) While you work on getting it to eat greens (perhaps try agar...I know a blue hippo that loves that stuff, or ulva also) you can/should feed it a flake like Formula two that has a lot of "greens" in it, just to make sure it's getting enough of what it needs.

My tangs would not eat the nori also, so I read to rub a fresh garlic clove on the nori and it worked like a charm they go crazy for it, now I just use the kent garlic extreme drops and soak the nori in that befor I drop it in the tank

My blue tang ate like a pig from the day we got it. It didn't matter if it was meaty, green, or whatever, it ate the food. Try soaking the nori in garlic before feeding it to the tank. It may help induce a feeding response. I use the green seaweed from the asian market which saves a ton of cash and it is good quality seaweed.

my tangs love the garlic also, I have noticed some tangs will eat the nori right away and others don't but the garlic definitely helps

Try different Colors of algae. My vlamingi prefers red but will eat green, and brown. I try and alternate every few days so they don't get tired of just one. I know I would!!
