My blue tang has been acting really weird ever since I got him. He’s been in quarantine for about a month now and today he has white all around his gills. Not sure what this is. Please help.

I assume you are running coppersafe and if true, they dont do well for some reason with treatment level above 2.25. Are there objects in the tank, as there is a possibility of injury. If fish is not perking up at feeding or when youre at tank, it could be becoming moribund in which it may not swim or eat normal and decline in health
Ids it breathing normal or heavy?

I’m running cupramime, but half the recommended dose. I just have pvc pipe in the qt so nothing that could injure the fish. Haven’t seen him eat, but he eats somehow as he has been alive for a month. Heavy breathing

Cupramine max dose is .5 and starts to work at .275 - .3. You can keep it at .4 with added aeration. Any itching oe scratching against pipe?

Not that I have seen

I have a scopas in the tank too that might have done a little itching but not sure if he was trying to itch or not. He’s doing completely fine though, really healthy and eating like a beast.

It looks emaciated. Is it ?
Not really. He isn’t a super skinny fish but at the same time in no shape or form thicker

The blue tang died today. I’ll attach a photo under maybe it will give some more info on him. My square back anthia is also gasping for air now so I’m worried it’s a disease in the water

Sorry to hear. What was your copper dose at time of death.
Add air stone and confirm your copper level by taking a water sample to an lfs to confirm reading. Remind me how you are testing copper level

I’m measuring with Hanna copper checker. Doing another test in about an hour
