I tested one out tonight with an SE XM 20k and like it a lot, I'd call it crisp white with a nice blue kick. as for loudness, it does have a little hum to it but I could only hear it with the stand doors open, and would say it's not as loud as most skimmers I have heard. (my first impression of it anyway)
as far as lamp cords go, I think you might have to buy them as there is 2 round and 1 flat plugs on this ballast/cord. (the 2 that are at an angle to each other are round with the the one on the right being flat, in the picture on PA)
edit: I looked at hamilton's site it does look to be the same pattern....no idea if it's wired the same
