Hello everyone. My new bluespot jawfish is having an issue. It was lethargic and with the stomach bloated.

I took it out to inspect and I saw this injury. I tried to massage the area to see if there was something clocked... Some white poop came out. And some liquid.

Any heko is appreciated

This looks more like an infection and may have stemmed from eating dry foods such as pellets or something that may have been difficult to pass through
Treatment in quarantine will be seachem neoplex or kanaplex and feed soft food such as brine shrimp for now which is way to pass through and digest

I don't give dry foods. The only thing I can imagine is that he ate a big chunk of prepared fresh frozen food and that got stuck

How long have you had the fish?

I don't see a good resolution here, sorry. With the bloating and lethargy you noted, this was probably an internal infection before you could see it externally.

I did a kanaplex bath but I'm wondering how frequently could I do it? The fish is still alive but I don't have to much hope now...

Freshwater filter only or is it? Have you ever used an HOB filter on a saltwater tank?
