I've seen numerous bounce mushrooms in the hobby, but hadn't heard of a bounce chalice until I looked it up. My frag I purchased a month or so ago started to show a small bubble that continues to grow. Just thought I'd share, but also curious if this is a sign of an unhealthy (diseased) coral or happy and healthy coral.

I would be willing to bet that it is from a "burn" of sorts. There have been a lot of notes that mushrooms "bounce" under LEDs. The thought is that it may be like a sunburn and keeping fluid under the skin, causing a "bounce". I would expect this is similar.

Chalice and bubble continue to grow. The bounce bubble even has "eyes".

Shot with phone and orange lens. Not great, but you can see that it's soft and if poked with a pin it would deflate.

Here’s my bouncing wolverine favia (not a chalice, but close enough). Bubble is about 1” with mid-day lights

Well it looks like I may have bumped it or popped it while trying to catch my Coral Beauty today. It's definitely deflated but still has all the loose "flesh". Maybe it's just ticked from the ordeal like all the other coral and will "bounce" back.

Bubble has "popped". What should I do? There is some brown stuff on the inside of the flesh. Should I cut it and dip in Iodine or just let it be. Foxface did eat some of the brown stuff. Sorry for the bad photos. Camera phone acting up.

That's way cool! What kind of chalice is it?
