Have a collection of 11 bowerbankis now and 1 of them has really consistently had health issues. It would periodically get random holes developing in the flesh (not bite marks, new ones have appeared even when caged and again no other bower has this problem) and recently it has also been receding from the edges. It will still puff up and look healthy during the day but upon inspection you can see the recession has continued over the last few weeks.
Parameters are all stable,
Alk 8.2
Calc: 450
Ph: 7.9-8.2 (night-day)
Mag: 1426
Nitrates: 12+
Phos: .2
Icp confirmed some trace elements are a little off but nothing I havent seen before

I've dipped with iodine, cirpo, oxolinic acid, etc etc at various times over the several months these issues have happened. Dips seem to help the holes, but thus far nothing has impacted the recession.
Getting about 100 par now maybe a little under and gentle follow but I regularly inspect for detritus build up.

Not sure what else to do at this point, its a beautiful piece and dont want to lose it.

Do you target feed?
Beautiful piece.
Generally no, especially not this particular piece. Have tried meaty foods, powder foods, and even just targeting with restor/aminos and it somehow manages to burn itself with its filaments a majority of the time. Its a challenging piece to say the least 😅

And thank you! Really hope i can save this beauty

Now has a new nightly routine of releasing filaments all over the flesh. Doesn't seem like there's much new damage in the morning but has done this 3 nights in a row now. Never seen anything like it.

There's a possibility something could be burrowing from within the skeleton, like sponge, or a tube worm/snail. If you have a coral saw or someone who has access to one you may want to bite the bullet and frag it out to save it if it gets worse. This would be a last ditch effort kind of thing. Try doing a bayer dip and see if anything comes out.

Thankfully I do have a coral saw. Its been on my mind but hoping to avoid that. I've never done a bayer dip before, do you happen to have instructions for this dip?
Also if I see anything coming out will the Bayer be effective enough to kill them outright? Or does that just confirm the need to cut it and dip the exposed skeleton? Thank you!

Here is a link to a good breakdown on it, it's fairly simple.

It should be effective enough to kill it, but you can also do multiple dips spread out in time as the bayer dip is not as harsh as other dips. See how the coral reacts after the first one and go from there.
