Hello just starting out and figured I would put my build on here. Bow-front 30 has a aqua clear 70 HOB for filtration has a small power head in it now ( upgrading to a jebao rw/pp-4 soon) a 200 watt heater and a led nicrew light. Started out with all live rock (about 23 pounds) and 20 pounds of live sand. The tank cycled pretty quick and a diatom bloom took over so some snails went in.
Livestock that's currently in the tank
3 Astraea snails
2 blue damsels

Livestock I would like to add
2 clown fish
And I'm not sure on what else I would like yet I'm thinking about 6 fish max total?

Thanks for looking I will take all advice if you have any.

Looks like a sunsun 530 ph..if it is it's a good little power head and can't beat the price. Tanks looks good! I followed the advise of those in this forum with more reef experience than I had and kept my fish stocking to 1 fish per 10 gallons..its been a good formula so far! Just passing that along. Wish you lots of success with yours!

Got some new clean up crew today. A couple more snails a star fish , emerald crab, shrimp, and about 10 blue leg hermits. Update on the tank it's been doing great parameters have been great only problem I'm having is diatoms on the sand but I know that's normal for a newer tank and now that I've put the shrimp and crab in one of the damsels are giving them a hard time Everytime they try to come out of hiding he picks at them pretty bad so I might be finding him a new home thanks for looking

Don't be sorry that's why I'm on this forum for good information. Thank you looks like he will be going back the bottom of my tank was covered in diatoms and I asked at the store what would be good to keep it under control and that's what they would be good. Anything else anyone could recommend to take its place or anything I should add to the CUC thanks in advance.

The diatoms although ugly are a normal part of the new tank syndrome. Once all silicates are used up they will disappear. No need to fight them.
As for a cuc, keep it light for now. Nassarius Snails are excellent detritus eaters and will keep your sand bed gently stirred.
Keep in mind Hermits (especially Blue Legs) are opportunistic predators. They'll kill any snail for food, shells and fun. Look into the Red Legged aka Scarlet Hermits as an alternative. Only type of Hermit I'll own.

Nasdarius snails are not algae eaters.

Excess nutrients are a key cause of nuisance algae growth. Uneaten foods cause excess nutrients. Nassarius Snails eat uneaten foods! Thus help by keeping excess nutrients in check.
By removing the source you avoid the issue. Always treat the source first.

Lol really? Well I guess that makes me a cop then. I occasionally mentor inner city at risk youth. These "at risk youth" are highly susceptible at committing petty offenses. So before the become criminals and commit these offenses, I mentor them so police officers don't have to arrest them. So I guess that makes me a COP. Wrong!

Stating a Nassarius snail is an algae eater using your logic is a poor fallacy buddy. Nice try.

I did not state that Nassarius Snails are algae eaters. Please read my unedited posts again from the beginning. Where I state they are detritus eaters. [emoji2]
