A vinyl mat 40mils thick, over time will get a hole in it just like a pool liner.

I just used a marine-grade white paint on my stand's interior and I have a piece of white Starboard on the bottom to catch spills and make the bottom easier to clean..

Flex Seal is oil based. No additional primer needed. Cost effective, and tried and true.
