No, but I can't just sit back and watch other people struggle. It's free labor. I doubt they will see a dime from FEMA either. My folks didn't.You are a Saint, my friend.
Another late school day for Andrew. Some specific schools are still closed due to flooding. Lots of people's homes are ruined. 2 people I work with. Insurance doesn't cover it. You have to live in a flood plain to get flood insurance. Hippie kid and I are going to be helping repair and clean up in the near future.
I have tried to get it twice. 2 different companies said no.Wow, that really sucks but happy you and your son will be helping out.
BTW - one does not need to live in a flood plain to get flood insurance. That is a common myth. Many. many people have flood insurance that do not live in flood plains. As a matter of fact, many reefers have flood insurance in case of a tank disaster. It's not cheap but it is readily available.

Thats not entirely true. If you lice in a flood plain the government requires flood insurance. You still can get flood insurance if you dont live in a flood plain. Its an add on insurance that you can get. Like mine subsidence and earthquake insurance.[/QUOTE][QUOTE="Katrina71, post: 5771548, member: 80776" Insurance doesn't cover it. We are all on our own which is why community is everything. We both watched Little House on the Prairie growing up. (My kids love that show BTW). It is old school, but infectious.
Here most insurance companies call everything an act of God, not covered. Funny story...about 15 years ago a friend's house was struck by lightning and they refused to pay because of it. I told her to tell them she is agnostic, they paid.
You are exactly right. Imo it's a despicable practice. Most companies/people whip out the god idea when it can/will serve them.
