Most of us here live paycheck to paycheck. A 5k expense is catastrophic. In particular if you make minimum wage.

Amount of pay doesn't have a lot to do with it. Many, if not most, American households live paycheck to paycheck.

My insurance won't cover my roof that got damaged 3 years ago. I have patched and patched until there is more patch than roof.

I changed insurance companies but the old one told the new one about the roof damage. Guess what? They put an exclusionary clause on my roof!

I hate insurance of all kinds. All of it is a scam.

The main thing holding up the store is $4k+ for a roof. (The wedding is paid off except for the boy's suit and I am getting them Sunday).

Fortunitly I haven't had to deal with any major home claims yet. I'm sure I will at some point and I hope my insurance treats me right. I don't have flood insurance but sometimes think I should. West Texas doesn't get a lot of rain and when we do the drainage is good around my home. However the few times we have got huge amounts of rain it adds up quickly and it wouldn't take much to get bad.

insurance around these parts use to pay claims for wildlife damage. Wildlife was racoon's,bats,possums anything non rodent. Now they won't pay claims. They've changed verbage and now call scat pollution. Whatever it takes to maintain profits for shareholders.

I think insurance companies rate right up there with big pharma and eco tech! That last one is for me and my buddy, @dantimdad .

You all should see the new US headquaters Zurich Insurance built in Schaumburg about 1.5 years ago. Needless to say, it's beautiful and insane! BTW - for those of you who don't know, Zurich owns Farmers and a number of other insurance companies and, of course, Farmers owns a number of other insurance companies too.

Another late school day for Andrew. Some specific schools are still closed due to flooding. Lots of people's homes are ruined. 2 people I work with. Insurance doesn't cover it. You have to live in a flood plain to get flood insurance. Hippie kid and I are going to be helping repair and clean up in the near future.

See sending you a small sump just turned to helping flood victims. You and Andrew are absolutely the right people to help with something so small and simple. Now I know for certain that I was able in some small way pay it forward. Well done you two!

I have no idea where the Nina Simone reference comes from (ADD I'm sure) but I'm a long-time fan of her music too. As a person; not so much but such is the case with a number of performers.

Thats a bummer. We only got 9"-10" of rain last week. Not that it isn't a lot but most of us around here are good. The 15"+ rainfalls hit just to the north and west of us. Missed us by less than 10 miles.

you'll have to excuse my lack of music understanding and references. I dont listen to a whole lot of music. Never have. During basketball I would listen fast up tempo beat but thats about it.

I'm more of a talk radio podcast type of guy. My favorite speaker is Dr. Ravi Zachariah.
