Brand New 8 gallon bio cube

Would that change the whole dynamic of my tank going from 900gph to 500? Like fuge & skimmer effectiveness?

Not to much of a change in my opinion. In the old days of reef tanks we would use 1-4 tank turn overs per hour as our guide. This will allow more contact time with the water in the sump. I know many strive for ten turns plus but from a biological filtration stand point less is more. The important part is to make sure the flow in the display is in the range to keep the water from having stagnant or low flow areas. This is handled by your wave makers or circulation pumps.

Wow, I'm gone basically the whole day and only had to catch up on 1 1/2 pages. You all are slacking!

Sucks about the officer down. Long story = short story = my brother has been in law enforcement for 34 years. Spent between the DEA and Phoenix PD. He was a lieutenant for the SWAT team until a couple years ago when 3 of his team were shot. Two of them died. One of them garnered a lot of national attention. After things died down he transferred out of SWAT. Just didn't think it was worth the risk and heartache anymore. BTW - did you know Phoenix is the kidnap capital of the country?

Hey @Musovski - where are the fish pics?

@najer - beautiful fish!

My thread

I agree with this, right here! I prefer to hear water sounds than what I normally hear. Unfortunately, I always hear noise in my ears (tinnitus). It's also one reason why I like going to sleep listening to certain music made in different frequencies such as 432Hz, 528Hz, 852Hz or a combination. Binaural and bilateral music are also good. If you've never tried them, I suggest them for relaxation. Oh, and use headphones when listening for full effect. Fortunately, the sound I constantly hear is just a low static sound and not ringing. I've been told it was probably caused by too many concerts. Seeing The Who multiple times inside the 10th row probably didn't help!

I will have to look into it. My hearing is bad also. Mostly hear ringing. Concerts,high end stereo, dirt bikes, guns, lots of fireworks, mechanical/ fabricating didn’t help. I think grinding steel may be the worst of it all.

We are all weird here that’s why we all flock to this thread
Count me among the weird. :)

I have struggled with hearing loss the last couple of years. I was told I probably have Meniere's Disease, which is a condition involving the inner ear. It creates fluctuating hearing loss (thankfully only in my left ear for now), Tinnitus, pressure in the ear and vertigo (which I thankfully only have on rare occasions). I only have 30% word recognition in my left ear, so it is practically useless. Music sounds weird now. Some days are better than others. I wear hearing aids and that does help a little with the higher frequencies. I am old, so I assume things will start to fall apart anyway. :)

Michigan ranks right up there. My brothers kids have been targeted twice.

We will need a reef themed retirement facility.
