I haven't been to a zoo in a while, sounds like a good excuse for another road trip soon. There is one about 2 hours away but it's a very sad zoo.
and @dantimdad we booked our campsites this morning so we now know where we are going fishing. Right on the Oklahoma border where there has been a ton of rain. Weather is getting warm and catfish should be ready to go.
I'm lucky, Riverbanks is only about 45 minutes away on the other side of Columbia. Its ranked 4th best zoo in the US by trip advisor.
We've been catching blue cats all winter long with bush hooks set up from the bank at work. I think we got a channel cat or two. Haven't heard of a flathead, but blues are the good ones anyway. Night shift gets slow, and bush hooks are easy to set and walk off and leave for a few hours.
Shiny up top, used to be light brown... YAY early onset male pattern balding!!! 33 and I got less hair on top of my head than a new born babys bottom... ok, it's not that bad, but it's VERY thin and won't grow longer than 1/8". I keep it shaved most of the time.
My beard is a mix of dark and light brown with a few blonde-ish flyers... and maybe 1 gray hair.
There's just something about a red head... Emma Stone, Alyson Hannigan, Sophie Turner!!!! ... she's old enough to be my mother, but Julianne Moore

We've got 3 species in SC... well that I know of. Great one more thing to Google. Blue, channel and flat head. Blues are the most common, and best tasting. I dont really like fresh water fish, but winter and early spring blues are pretty ok. Meat is super white and flaky. Channel cats are kind of a yellow meat and mushy, esp in the summer when water temps are in the 80sFlat head, yellow cats they have a few names. Learned today that the lake we are going to had the world record come out of it, 117 pounds in 2004 I think it said. Biggest I've seen in person was 72, but I didn't catch it.

I snagged @dantimdad with a meat hook on a clothesline that weighed over 70 pounds.
For me, it's probably flounder or Spanish mackerel... Dad and I used to do a lot of fishing at the coast when I was a kid.Yeah we have blues and channel in Texas as well, I've caught more channel cat in my life than anything else.
Oh, and SCDNR says we have 4 catfish species in SC, the 4th is the bullhead catfish and the state record is 6 something pounds... never heard of them tho.
I just looked and apparently we have bullhead as well, but I don't think I've ever caught them. Honestly they are worthless to eat, but carp is my favorite to fish for. So much fight, it's a blast and I will target them sometimes just to play.Bullheads are probably the most common type of cat up here where I live. I don't think there is a pond or lake anywhere that I've fished that doesn't have them.

Lol, shot a carp in the head at about 25 yards with my Glock 40... I was gonna leave the thing alone, but dude I was fishing with dared me, actually bet me I couldn't hit it...and we all know what happened when @Katrina71 dared me to show foot.I just looked and apparently we have bullhead as well, but I don't think I've ever caught them. You were fishing with a clothesline that weighed over 70 pounds!?!?!:eek::eek::eek:I snagged multiple spoonbill with a meat hook on a clothesline that weighed over 70 pounds.

I hooked a 55 pound grouper in 80ft of water. I felt like I was reeling in a boulder. The deck hand thought I was snagged on the bottom for the first 10 minutes. Would have been a better experience but the cheap rod/reel combo used on the charter tore my hand up so I was bleeding all over the deck before I got the fish onboard. On a positive, I hooked it right at the 10 minute warning to stop fishing so we could head in. I promise you I wasn't reeling in another fish that day. Not with that cheap setup. The fish did taste fantastic! The hardest thing I ever reeled in was a 3" stingray at the Little River jettys. I swear I was reeling in a 4×8 sheet of plywood sideways. It never shook or shocked the line real hard. It just started singing like crazy and I set the drag and turned the bait clicker off.

Aren’t Asian carp bad? I was watching a show about the IL river and they have these under water zappers for Asian carp, seems fancy, and like a bad place to swim lolCarp are a blast, for sure! When I used to fish the IL river I'd set up a couple lines just for them. If I caught any I'd always give them to the Asians that were always there fishing. They'd thank me profusely and it made me happy to see them so happy.
