I think next year you guys might have to help me find an old school stereo system for the hippie kid. Something with a turntable. I guess I'll have to start collecting some albums for him too.

I shop all year so I can afford Christmas. A little at a time. The big question...Kenwood or Pioneer? Or something else?

He has never heard the crackle of a record or the sound the needle makes when you find a groove. I know he will love it the way I do.

And the thrill of hearing the same groove over and over, when it hits a scratch. :-) I have always had a Yamaha receiver. I have Klipsch speakers. Turntables are easy to find and are reasonably priced. Browse Crutchfield Home Audio. They have decent, affordable stuff. Unfortunately, my hearing is going, so music doesn't sound all that great to me now. Too many years of hanging out with musician friends and standing too close to speakers, I guess. So, don't get him anything that gets too loud. :-)

Vinyl seems to be making a come back. Our son (23) is into it big time now. He loves to tell us all about whatever album he picked up and added to his collection. It's funny when he asks if we wanted to come over and check out the sound that comes off of an album. He must think we are to young for albums...I won't tell him any different.
