@najer the first chamber has shelving in it for media. The previous owner used a skimmer that filled the entire center chamber and had an external refugium. He said his macro starved. I bet it was after the skimmer

Interesting comments on my numbers, I am feeding more heavily so I am going to put the skimmer running again but on a timer to just run during daytime.
I would put the skimmer in the first chamber, if it fits and have the whole of the centre section as a refugium, that is how I have mine set up but there are corner weirs for the returns to sit in to reduce turbulence.
Nice work on the cleaning.

Empty is better, Poly may get clogged, and without regular cleaning it may turn into a nitrate factory
