Brand New 8 gallon bio cube

Beautiful indeed, but I still miss this girl plenty. Cannot believe she just vanished with no trace.

She is beautiful.

Ugh. Double post. Live sale has caused me a couple this weekend. Even a couple triple posts. I am all for live sales for the site, but posting and reading is almost useless.
That's what is going on... I was wondering why it was so slow. WWC always crashes the site when they do a live sale.

Yep. Practically unusable all weekend. I did the taxes instead.

I use 1" on drains up to a 180. Then 1.5"

I end to use 3/4" on returns but you could use 1" to keep things simple.
I have some questions. I'll know more when I really get into it. I was wondering if I could use 3/4 return. Is there a reason you do this? I am wondering if I had the same thoughts.

3/4" is fine for your return... this chart will help you understand why 1" is so common for drain. With gravity as your flow force, 3/4" runs the edge on not being able to drain enough water on most setups. 1" is plenty.

Under pressure, 3/4" can flow up to 1400gph, but can drain only 660gph.

I used to have a graph that showed head loss given the size of the pipe. Back then, 1" pvc was about twice what 3/4" was so, when the chart showed only a very slight increase in return flow going up to 1", it wasn't worth it.

Conversely, the flow through a 1" drain was significantly higher than 3/4" so it was worth the money. Nowadays, PVC is so cheap it doesn't make a difference too much. But, being old school, I stick with what became a habit.

It has served me well over the years.
